Written by on March 28, 2021

Expect wind gusts as high as 80 mph in some parts of Park County, starting Sunday night and blowing all day Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for western and central Wyoming, including all of Park County, effective at midnight Monday. It continues until at least 6 p.m.

Cody residents can expect west winds of 30 to 45 mph in and around town. In the Absaroka Range, winds are expected to reach 80 mph.

The strongest winds are expected at the following locations:

  • Over the Chief Joseph Highway
  • Clark
  • The westside of Cody
  • Wyoming Highway 120 (south of town)

High winds have been causing significant issues on Wyoming’s highways. Driving a vehicle with a high-profile – like a truck or trailer  – will be especially dangerous.

The last High Wind Advisory in northwest Wyoming pummelled Cody with winds as strong as 84 mph. They were the highest winds of all recorded locations for that particular day.
