American Legion Baseball Returns To Worland

The Worland Chiefs American Legion Class C Baseball team started their season last week.

Worland would face Thermopolis in an Exhibition game to start the season.

The Chiefs were originally scheduled to face the Cody Cubs C team in Cody the Friday before but rain and pooling on the field canceled the game, it will be made up June 19th in Cody.

The Thermopolis game was the Chief’s first of the season.

Game 1 saw the Chiefs have a rough start and gave up 12 runs in the top of the first inning.

After slowing Thermopolis to 2 runs in the remainder of the 1st game the Chiefs added 2 of their own with scores from Cannon Tidemann and Zan Lentsch.

The Chiefs lost game 1, 14-2.

Ryu Moreno would start at pitcher in game 2, the Chiefs would have a good showing but early game jitters gave Thermopolis opportunities.

Worland lost game 2, 8-2.

Thursday the Chiefs traveled to Greybull to face their 15U Senior Little League team.

In game 1 the Chiefs lost 11-6, in game 2 Worland would hold mistakes to a minimum and get a 2-1 win over Greybull.

Friday the Chiefs would see the Otto Rattlers at Newell Sargent.

In a game with the Otto 15U team, the Chiefs would get a 9-1 win.

With great play from Eli Fox who went .333 batting in the 1st week, Zac Davis who scored 4 runs, Kolby Wall scoring 4 runs, and Krew Neighbors with 4 runs as well.

Zan Lentsch led the Chiefs with 9 strikeouts in his outings, with solid pitching from Moreno, Beckett Tharp, Kyston Rollema, Eason Peterson, and an outstanding comeback from Kolby Wall that included 4 strikeouts.

The Chiefs will see Class C American Legion teams the Riverton Raiders Friday at Newell Sargent Park and the Buffalo Bulls in Buffalo Saturday to start the regular season for the Chiefs.
