The Cody Stampede Parade takes place on July 3rd and 4th at 9:30 a.m. The theme for this year is “Yellowstone: 150 Years of Wild & Wonder.”

The Special Awards to be presented at this year’s parade include Judges’ Favorite (everyone is eligible), Mayor’s Favorite (everyone is eligible), Roger Sedam Award (cash), and Blaylock Patriotic High School Band (cash). Cash prizes for each category will be rewarded as follows: “1st Prize $200.00,” and “2nd Prize $100.00.”

According to the parade entry form, “To qualify for any prize, you must be entered in the parade both July 3rd and 4th and comply with all eligibility guidelines.” Entries to be considered for prizes close “June 28th ” with the committee adding there will be “no exceptions.” The eligibility guidelines require participants to adhere to rules set by the Parade Committee, which include requirements like “all entries must be decorated,” and “throwing of anything (candy, water, etc.) from any entry will not be permitted.”

To qualify for prizes, parade participants must “be at your assigned number by 8:30 a.m.” The parade entrance starts at Allen Ave. and 8th Street (Yellowstone Highway, next to Sunrise Motel).

The Grand Marshall for the Parade on July 4th is actor Cole Hauser, better known as “Rip” from the series “Yellowstone.” Mr. Hauser will only appear on the 4th. The Stampede Rodeo on the 4th starts at 5 p.m.

The firework show takes place on July 4th at dusk and is being sponsored by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce. The fireworks will be “shot off across the river, to the north of the rodeo grounds as they have been in the past,” the Chamber says. A radio show on 106.7 FM will accompany the fireworks and people can tune in live to hear the broadcast.

To help keep this tradition alive, folks can consider donating here.

As the Chamber of Commerce states, “We need your help to keep the Cody 4th of July fireworks show alive! The cost to ship the fireworks to town has skyrocketed and we depend on donations to support this beloved tradition.”
