Broncs Open Playoffs with 1st Round Demolition of Worland

The Cody Broncs opened play in the first round of the Class 3A Wyoming High School Football Playoffs, Friday night, as they played host to the Worland Warriors.

The Broncs cruised to a 62-14 win to open post-season play.

Matt Nelson continued his torrid play as he scored 4 total touchdowns in the contest, Luke Talich threw for three and Trey Thomasson had a pair of rushing TD’s as Cody has now scored 60 plus points in back-to-back games.

The Broncs got going early behind a Matt Nelson 34 yard touchdown run. Minutes later, Luke Talich would find Jacob Ball for a 27 yard touchdown pass, on fourth ant 10, to make it 14-0.

After a Kade Weber to Carter Clark touchdown on fourth, Cody would answer again, this time a Talich to Eli Pryor 10 yard TD pass.

At the end of the first quarter it was 21-7, Cody, with each team converting 4th downs.

The Broncs have been lights out in the 2nd quarter as of late and Friday was no different. Cody reeled of 35 unanswered points in the frame to put the game away at halftime.

For the second straight week they had scored 55 plus first half points. They led Worland, 56-7 at the intermission.

Maddox Ball would score from 3 yards out to start the 3rd quarter en-route to the victory.

Leading the way for the Broncs was Matt Nelson who finished the game with 286 total yards of offense and 4 touchdowns. He had 86 on the ground with 2 TD’s and 151 receiving with 2 scores.

Luke Talich was 9-15 through the air for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Trey Thomasson ran the ball 3 times and found the end-zone twice.

Eli Pryor and Jacob Ball each had touchdown catches.

Jackson Schroeder led the way on the ground with 46 yards on 9 attempts.

12 different Broncs had rushing attempts in the game.

Jace Grant, Keegan Hensley, Thomasson and Schroeder all had sacks, defensively.

The Broncs finished with 535 yards of total offense: 285 rushing and 250 passing.

With the win the Broncs have now won 9 games this season.

Up Next: They play host to Buffalo, Friday November 4th for the Semi-Final round of the playoffs. Kick-off is scheduled for 5pm.
