City of Cody Launches Ease of Use Website for City Business

Written by on October 20, 2021

A new City of Cody website is the “one-stop shopping” location for all city business: paying bills, requesting services, getting permits, and much more.

Throughout 2021, the City of Cody has been embracing the 21st Century thru the implementation of new websites. Each of these new sites is designed to increase transparency and accessibility for all city residents.

In May 2021, the city launched Clearly Cody – a municipal dashboard “committed to financial transparency and accountability.” The site contains every bit of information on the city’s finances and budgets, along with the ability to submit questions to the city.

Now, the City of Cody is promoting its new website with a simple purpose: simplifying the process of requesting and obtaining city services.

The new city website – run thru Arc G.I.S. – will be a portal for a significant number of Online City Services. Everything from bill payments, license applications, and permit acquisitions can all start with a visit to the City of Cody’s Online City Services.

“The City of Cody believes in providing quality and accessible services to our citizens and visitors,” the new site reads. “This site provides an easy way to access various City services when it is convenient for you.”

There are five main categories: Make a Payment, Report a Concern, Request Services, New License and Permit Applications, and Renew a License or Permit.

Many of the links are currently inactive as the site is still launching. However, its potential ease of use will be immensely beneficial for all Cody residents.

For instance, residents can already visit the new site to sign up for programs and memberships at the Cody Recreation Center or reserve a city park or facility. The new site also directs anyone seeking to make a utility payment or pay a municipal fine to the website Xpress, which handles those payments.

Service orders can be placed to multiple city departments, either thru the new site itself or by directing visitors to the right place to make a request.

According to the website’s posted but inactive links, numerous other services will soon be available online.

  • Signup for Equal Pay on utility accounts
  • 24-hour alcohol or malt beverage permits
  • Apply for or renew taxi and pawnshop licenses
  • Building permit applications
  • New contractor licenses

City officials will not be monitoring submissions on the new website 24/7.  Instead, requests will be reviewed during business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

There is a sixth category on the website with a lofty goal – encouraging citizens to get involved and stay engaged with the City of Cody.

“Stay Connected and Make a Difference” offers a direct link to board and committee positions, job opportunities, and City of Cody Staff. Anyone can also request a City Council agenda or contact council members directly.

The new website is all about making the comings and goings of the City of Cody work at the convenience of the city’s residents. And so far, it’s off to a promising start.
