Cody Rocks Powell to Sleep, Hosts Casper in the State Title

Written by on July 28, 2022

It was an offensive onslaught Wednesday night as the Cody Cubs dismantled their Park County Rivals, Powell, and sent them packing with a lopsided 16-3 victory.

Cody got on the board early and never looked back.

After Powell scored the first 2 runs of the ball game, the Cubs responded by scoring 16 unanswered.

The Cubs scored 2+ runs each inning and racked up 12 total hits in the contest.

Trey Thomasson and Ben Reinker would reach base safely in all 8 of their plate appearances and scored 8 of the teams 16 runs.

Dominic Phillips and Trey Schroeder each collected 3 hits in the game. Schroeder’s RBI Triple in the 3rd gave the Cubs a 12-2 lead and following the slide came up with the Rock the Baby to Sleep celebration, showing just how much this game meant.

Wyatt Carlson was 2-2 in the game with a double, 2 RBI’s and a run scored and came up with a highlight reel, full extension dive in the 3rd to rob Powell’s Cade Queen of a base hit.

Every single Cub had either and RBI or run scored in the contest.

Reinker after a shaky 1st inning settled down nicely and pitched a fantastic game. He picked up the win, throwing 5 innings of 6 hit ball while giving up 3 runs and striking out 3.

Up Next: Cody will host Casper in the 2022 State “A” Title Game Friday morning with first pitch scheduled for 11am.
