MILWARD L. SIMPSON STADIUM PLAYED HOST TO ANOTHER CODY CUBS DOUBLE HEADER WEDNESDAY NIGHT AS THE CUBS CAME AWAY WITH A SPLIT VS. THE INTERNATIONAL WORLD BASEBALL SHOWCASE COLTS. THE CUBS WOULD LOSE GAME 1 5-2 BUT TOOK THE NIGHTCAP 10-4.

PICKING THINGS UP IN GAME TWO WHERE DOMINIC PHILLIPS GOT THE START AND WOULD GO 5 INNINGS PITCHED, GAVE UP 2 HITS, WALKED FOUR AND STRUCK OUT TWO.

THE OFFENSE CAME ALIVE IN GAME TWO AS THEY WOULD BRING 8 BATTERS TO THE PLATE IN THE TOP OF THE FIRST AND SCORE FOUR RUNS. THE CUBS WOULD BRING 3 MORE INTO SCORE IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 6TH HIGHLIGHTED BY A JARED GRENZ TWO RUN HOME-RUN.

IN GAME ONE, HAYDEN BRONNENBERG GOT THE NOD AND WOULD HAVE AN EFFECTIVE OUTING GOING THE DISTANCE PITCHING ALL SEVEN INNINGS WHILE GIVING UP 8 HITS, 5 RUNS (4 EARNED) AND STRUCK OUT 5. THE CUBS WENT INTO THE BOTTOM OF THE 7TH TRAILING BY FIVE AND AFTER TACKING ON 2 RUNS HAD THE BASES LOADED WITH TWO OUTS BUT COULDN’T CAPITALIZE.

FOLLOWING THE SPLIT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL COLTS THE CUBS SIT AT 31-15 ON THE SEASON WITH JUST 5 REGULAR SEASON GAMES REMAINING.

THEY WILL TAKE ON THE INTERNATIONAL COLTS ONE LAST TIME THURSDAY AFTERNOON. IT WILL BE JUST A SINGLE GAME WITH FIRST PITCH SCHEDULED FOR 4PM.
