The Cody Broncs are heading to the State Championship.

Cody knocked off Star Valley Friday night by a final score of 24-17 to clinch a spot in next week’s State Title game, in Laramie, where they’ll face off against the Jackson Broncs. This will be a re-match of last year’s title game.

Jackson Schroeder had 85 rushing yards (unofficially), two rushing touchdowns and Jackson Gail knocked through a clutch 25 yard field goal in the win.

The Broncs got off to a hot start scoring the games first 21 points and led at the half 21-0.

Star Valley would had an answer. The Braves would score on their first drive of the third quarter and would cut the lead to within one score early in the fourth after forcing a Cody fumble but when the Broncs needed a play, they made them.

With just under 11 minutes to go in the game, Cody put together a time consuming drive that ate nearly seven minutes, finished off with Gail’s clutch 25 yard field goal and then after forcing Star Valley into a field goal, Gail came through once again diving on the onside kick attempt to seal it.

Chaz Cowie added about 75 yards on the ground, on 14 carries. Luke Talich had 80 rushing yards and also forced a fumble on defense.

Nathan Wilson had an interception.
