Controlled Burning Season comes with burning regulation reminder from County

Written by on April 2, 2019

As controlled burn season approaches, Washakie County Fire Officials have posted burning regulations for 2019 and they are as follows.
Burners must notify Washakie County Dispatch Center at 347-2242. The responsible party shall provide the location and access of the controlled burn, the nature of the burn and contact information.
Time of ignition for burning is 6:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. No fire shall be started if the wind is currently or expected to exceed 15 miles per hour during the burn.
Wind will be blowing away from populated areas when the burn begins. Populated areas include portions of property normally occupied as residential, recreational, institutional, commercial or educational premises.
The responsible party will be on site of the controlled burn during all periods of active fire and will have ways to manage the controlled burn to prevent an out of control wild land fire.
Additional Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality requirements must be met.
Lastly, the Washakie County Fire Warden may suspend all burning based on a Red Flag Warning or High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service.
