The Northern Wyoming News reports the Washakie County Fair Board voted to change the start time of the youth rodeo during this years fair week.
Member Marty Cross made the motion to move the event to Thursday night at 7:00 P.M. to help parents, grandparents and others see their children or grandchildren compete in the event.
The move did cause the board to also move the beef show to 2:00 P.M. on the same day to ensure kids would be able to get their animals washed and prepared for the rodeo event.
With the event starting later and now having to utilize the lighting structures at the fairgrounds, their will be a fee to compete in the youth rodeo–but that fee was not determined at the meeting.
In recent years the fair board has continued to try and expand activities to revitalize fair week. Through that effort they also approved an adult and youth cornhole tournament that will take place during one of the live music events.
