Firewood Permits Available at BLM WY Regional Offices

Written by on May 27, 2020

The sun is shining, the weather is warm – so is it too early to be thinking about firewood?

Not according to the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming, which has begun selling firewood permits from several of its field offices. Permits are available for purchase now, on lands managed by the Cody, Buffalo, Kemmerer, Newcastle, Pinedale, Rawlins, Rock Springs and Worland field offices. The Lander Field Office will begin selling permits online on June 15, 2020.

Permits cost between $5 and $7.50 per cord depending on the office. Permits for firewood and for other forest products can still be purchased at all BLM field offices in the state, but are now available for purchase online on the websites of any of the field offices selling permits. Permits allow for the harvest of down or standing dead wood only and it is important to use firewood from local sources to prevent the spread of invasive species – an ever-present threat in all our parks and forests.

You can purchase a permit by going to https://forestproducts.blm.gov/.
