Freedom Celebration Today at Veteran’s Park

The 4th of July is the day set aside to celebrate our country’s independence from England.

But in Cody, an annual event on the 3rd of July highlights the reasons why we celebrate.

This year’s Freedom Celebration will take place at Veteran’s Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. today. Organizer Carol Armstrong says this is the 12th year that the Park County Republican Party has sponsored the event. She says that local, state and national elected officials will be in attendance, as well as a special guest – Ovi Muntean, a naturalized American citizen from Romania who knows what it means to live in a country that doesn’t share the freedoms that we often take for granted here.

Last year’s event drew 200 people, according to Armstrong, and she invites the community to join in the ceremony, which should last about an hour and a half.
