Fremont County Releases Name of Man Killed outside Wal-Mart in Riverton

Officials from Fremont County released the name of the man killed in an officer-involved shooting outside a Wal-Mart in Riverton.
Anderson Antelope–58–of Riverton was shot and killed when he allegedly attacked an officer with a knife and attempted to stab the officer in the chest. The officer fired one shot–that struck Antelope in the head–he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation is conducting the investigation into the shooting.
Fremont County Coroner Mark Stratmoen said is is policy to convene an inquest to determine cause and manner of death whenever a fatality is caused, or suspected to be caused, by a law enforcement agency in his jurisdiction.
