Hazardous Waste Disposal This Weekend

Written by on September 12, 2018

Park County residents have the option to safely dispose of pesticides and other hazardous wastes this weekend.
The Cities of Cody and Powell, along with Park County Weed and Pest and the Park County Landfill, are hosting the no-cost, no-questions-asked annual disposal program this Friday and Saturday, which makes it convenient for people to legally dispose of unwanted pesticides and household hazardous wastes without harming the environment.
The Friday collection will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell. The Saturday collection takes place at the Cody Recycling Center off of 15th Street from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Officials say that acceptable hazardous waste includes household cleaning products, unused paint and paint removers, moth balls, poison bait, propane tanks, old batteries, weed killer and other toxins. These household hazardous products are not allowed to be disposed of in landfills or at recycling centers, so this free disposal day is a benefit to residents.
