Written by on September 7, 2022

The historic and record-setting heat wave here in the West continues today and, unfortunately, it will likely last a few more days.

According to the National Weather Service, “nearly 54 million people are under excessive heat warnings and heat advisories in the Western U.S. Meanwhile, a broad swath of elevated, critical and extremely critical fire weather conditions along with the threat of dry thunderstorms are expected from the Interior Northwest to Montana today.”

As previously reported here on KODI, “Wyoming and much of the Rocky Mountain Region will spend the next two weeks at the center of a high-pressure weather system. ”

This weather system is part of a perfect storm of conditions that have caused extreme heat here in the Bighorn Basin and in Northwest Wyoming.
