i-Scout App Enhances BBCW Experience

The Buffalo Bill Center of the West is known around the world for its vast collection of western art and artifacts.
But for many visitors and locals, exploring the five museums and the Center’s research library can feel overwhelming – so the Center has launched a smartphone app that allows users to browse the collections from their mobile devices.
The i-Scout app launched in 2015, but developer Seth Johnson says that they’ve recently enhanced the program to allow users to be more interactive and access more information.
Features of the app now include viewing maps of the gallery that correspond to the artifacts on display, an event calendar of the day’s tours and special programs, and badges earned for browsing in the collections and completing scavenger hunts. Visitors can also explore deeper into the background of the Center’s artifacts with blog, article, and video content.
Johnson points out that the app is web-based, rather than downloaded, and is free for all users.
