Calving season is about to be upon and for some it has already begun! This wonderful Wyoming ranch family that makes videos weekly explains to us who maybe don’t know (like me) why cleaning the fields is imperative.

When cows are born their umbilical cord is completely exposed. Since these baby cows just kind of land in random spots when they are born, it is entirely possible that the exposed umbilical cord could create contact with manure. 

Watch this video to see how they clean the field and what equipment they use. This Wyoming families mantra is that their livelihood is the ranch, and the ranch is their livelihood.
