Millions of Dollars of COVID-19 Relief Still Available

Written by on September 14, 2020

The Wyoming Business Council is closing applications for the COVID-19 Business Relief Program’s Relief and Mitigation funds at 5 pm, September 15.

The Relief fund covers business losses associated with the pandemic, both COVID-19 and the state’s public health orders. It’s open to small businesses and non-profits with anywhere from one to 100 full-time employees with relief of up to $300 thousand dollars of relief available.

The Mitigation fund covers losses associated with the purchase of personal protective equipment or any other safety measure installed for the protection of staff and customers. Up to $500 thousand dollars can be granted from this fund.

The Wyoming Business Council has $225 million dollars in federal funds allocated between the two programs. Thousands of applicants have requested funding from both programs.

Even if every single one of these requests were funded, there’s still money available in both funds for business relief.

The Relief fund is close to exceeding the available dollars – but not quite there. Meanwhile, the Mitigation fund is potentially leaving million untouched.

Of the $40 million dollars available thru the Mitigation Fund, only $28.3 million has been requested so far.

Wyoming Business Council CEO Josh Dorrell hopes that every single dollar is requested and distributed. So far, the Council has distributed $325 million dollars in federal CARES Act funding to various businesses across the entirety of Wyoming.

Dorrell says these funds have been greatly appreciated by the businesses who have received them, offsetting COVID-19 losses and providing at least some relief during a difficult time.
