Dozens of motorcycle riders will be arriving in Cody today as part of a nationwide effort to raise funds to support disabled veterans.
Nation of Patriots is a 501(C)3 nonprofit organization founded in Wisconsin, and on Armed Forces Day, they launched their 10th annual Patriot Tour. On May 18th, one American flag began a 110-day journey, transported 14,500 miles through all 48 continental states by motorcycle riders in a city-to-city relay that raises funds to support disabled veterans.
Sarah Botham, who coordinates the marketing for the organization, says the arrival of the flag to each community is always an inspiring sight.
Nearly $ 1 million has been raised through this grassroots effort since the Nation of Patriots’ inception in 2009, and Botham adds that as an all-volunteer organization, Nation of Patriots ensures that 100 percent of funds raised goes directly to veterans.
The Patriot Tour will be arriving at Buffalo Bill Harley-Davidson on June 10 at 12 p.m. After a passing of the flag ceremony, the group will depart for Montana tomorrow.
From the beginning of the route in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, stops have already been made in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado and Utah before arriving in Wyoming.
