Sand and Sandbags available at Washakie County Fairgrounds

Written by on May 28, 2019

The Washakie County Sheriff’s Office and Worland Police Department — in a Facebook post late Memorial Day Monday — wanted to inform the public of the availability of sand and sandbags.
A significant amount of rain for Washakie County has fallen over the past two weeks, a flood warning was issued late yesterday for portions of Hot Springs and Washakie County that has since expired, but that does not mean local concerns do not remain.
Washakie County Emergency Management has taken steps to ensure the availability of sandbags and sand for any Washakie County residents who have concerns of potential flooding. The sandbags and sand are located at the Washakie County Fairgrounds inside the front gate. At this point no sandbags have been filled, so feel free to bring a shovel and fill as many as you need. In the event of potential flooding please call the Washakie County Law Enforcement Center at (307)347-2242 or 911 in the event of an emergency.
Washakie County Emergency Manager, Kami Neighbors can also be contacted for any non-emergency flooding concerns, (307)347-3331 or on her cell (307)431-0346.
