Schroeder’s 10 K’s Powers Cody Past Sheridan at State

Jackson Schroeder was nearly flawless Tuesday night as he took to the mound and tossed 6 and 2/3 innings of 3 hit ball while striking out 10 as the Cody Cubs knocked off the Sheridan Jets in the second round of the State Tournament.

Schroeder set the tone early, after allowing the Jets lead-off man aboard, Schroeder would then strike out the next 3 batters.

The bats stayed hot for the Cubs as they plated 4 runs in the bottom of the first highlighted by a Jace Jarrett 2-RBI Double. Wyatt Carlson would add an RBI Single in the following at bat.

That’s all Schroeder needed as he practically breezed through the order. The 10 K’s on the night give Schroeder 104 for the season.

The Cubs would plate 2 more in the third behind an RBI groundout from Carlson.

They added 3 more in the fifth as Ty Peterson came up with a clutch RBI single with the bases loaded, followed by Eli Johnston’s Sacrifice Fly RBI.

The Cubs finished with 8 total hits.

Up Next: Cody will play Casper Wednesday nigh with first pitch scheduled for 7pm. The winner between Cody and Casper will guarantee themselves a spot in Friday’s State Championship game.

Torrington and Green River have been eliminated.

Lovell defeated Torrington while Green River lost to Cheyenne.

Powell would drop their contest to Casper by a final of 9-7.
