Stagecoach Tours of Cody Coming In Summer 2022

Written by on January 24, 2022

It’s going to be a blast from the past on the streets of Cody this summer, as a horse-drawn western stagecoach will carry passengers and sponsorships thru town.

A new attraction will offer a different view of Cody this summer. Starting in late May and throughout the whole summer, tourists can experience a new tour through town – by stagecoach.

The Gilmer and Salisbury Stage Line of Morristown, Arizona will be operating stagecoach tours in Cody during Summer 2022. Tours will be “staged” from the Buffalo Bill Center of the West starting on May 25.

The stagecoach tours will be in operation from May 28 thru September 5 next summer, offering 20-minute narrated tours of the town.

“You will leave with a much better understanding of  . . .Wyoming’s  Stagecoach Lines and “Gold Rush Era,”  the company’s website reads. “You will be enjoying the comfort of our authentic mudwagon stagecoach all the while taking in the gorgeous views from the stage.”

An exact route for the tour has not been released. However, the Irma Hotel has been mentioned as one point along the line.

A Mudwagon style stagecoach typically seats four to six people and is pulled by a team of horses. The term “mud wagon” historically refers to how the coach did little to shield its passengers from dust and dirt during the journey.

Gilmer and Salisbury is a division of Arizona Stageline & Wagons, which offers a number of different rolling stock for tours, parades, and special events. The Cody Stageline will be the company’s first venture outside Arizona.

For local businesses, it’s another opportunity for sponsorships and increased visibility throughout Cody during the busiest time of the year.

Forward Cody shared a Facebook post announcing the new attraction and the opportunity for business sponsorships. All sponsors will have their business included in the stagecoach banner display, which will be seen throughout town during the summer.

Online reservations for the Cody Stagecoach Ride are currently available. The coach will operate seven days a week between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

The cost of the tour is $20 for adults, $10 for children from six to fourteen years old. Children younger than five are free, but must be accompanied by an adult, whose lap will serve as their seat.
