The University of Wyoming’s online professional child development program was ranked second among the 15 best early childhood education degree online bachelor’s programs for 2019 by the Bachelors Degree Center.
To determine the ranking, the Bachelors Degree Center searched for accredited programs and ranked them based on cost, reputation and salary expectations.
UW’s program was ranked below only West Virginia University’s online Bachelor of Science degree in child development and early studies.
Christine Wade, interim department head and associate professor stated quote, “We are excited to see our online professional child development program in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences receiving this recognition.” End quote.
The distance program has been offered to students for about 20 years, providing individuals who might not be able to move to a college campus the opportunity to learn how to work with young children. Graduates are prepared to work as administrators, early childhood educators or at agency referral networks with child advocacy.
Students in the program are required to complete an internship at the end of their studies to provide hands-on opportunities to put their learning into practice.
