Warrior Wrestling Sweeps in Lander

Worland Wrestling finished with a sweep in Lander on Saturday. The number three ranked Wyoming 3A Warriors have won eleven of their last twelve matches. The one loss was to the number one ranked 4A wrestling team in Wyoming. The Sheridan Broncs.

The Warriors have eleven ranked wrestlers in Wyoming 3A out of the fourteen weight classes. Only 3A number one ranked Star Valley has more. The Braves have ranked wrestlers in all fourteen weight classes.

Two of Worland’s wrestlers are ranked number one in their weight class. Luke Goncalves at 170 pounds and Lane McBee at the 195 weight class. McBee is also certified at the 182 pound weight class.

Worland opened the duals against the Riverton Wolverines. Three matches were lost in the first match. Josh Rose at the 170 pound weight class lost by Major Decision 15-0 to the number two ranked Tray Hyatt, who is also certified at the 160 pound weight class.

Riverton would forfeit seven weight classes giving up 42 points. One of the highlights of the match was Rylee Anderson and her first varsity win over Taylorae Kuegeler, Rylee would pin her opponent in :59 seconds.

Worland would win the match 63-17.

The Host City of Lander would be the next team the Warriors would see. Worland would again lose three matches. Guillian Comstock lost to the number five ranked wrestler Paxton Rees at the 138 pound weight class. The other two losses were epic battles. Riverton’s Charles Snyder is ranked fifth at the 132 pound weight class. Kein Anderson is ranked sixth. Snyder would win by a 3-2 decision.

The match of the day has to go to the 182 pound weight class. Lane McBee is currently ranked number one at the 195 pound weight class. Jack Sweeney is ranked number one at the 182 pound weight class. As you read earlier McBee is certified at 182. The 195 pound weight class was left open.

Lane McBee went down a weight class to wrestle Jack Sweeney, a State Champion at the 170 pound weight class from last season. The match would go all three rounds. McBee would lose by Major Decision 11-3.

The Warriors won the match over Lander 60-11.

The Warriors would win nine matches to the Cody Broncs by Fall. The Broncs would forfeit three matches at 113, 132, and 145 weight classes. The losses were at 126 and 182. Worland would beat Cody 66-12.

Worland will host this Friday both Gillette schools Campbell County and Thunder Basin. Ranked number two in the 4A division is Thunder Basin. They have wrestlers ranked number one in four weight classes. 113, 120, 126, and 220. Star Valley will also be here in Worland Friday.
