Warriors Open Soccer Season With Win Over Sheridan

Written by on March 22, 2021

The Worland Warriors are playing Soccer, as a team, for the first time in 22 months. The way they played, you couldn’t tell.

After not having a season a year ago the Warriors were clearly excited to get to play together again.

Worland started two Sophomores in Court Gonzalez and Kade Weber. Weber would have his first start at Goalkeeper.

Not having a season a year ago, as Freshman, ment Gonzalez and Weber hadn’t played for their school since Middle School.

Four Juniors got the start : Jorey Anderson, Cole Venable, Kolter Wyman, and Jackson Wassum.

Five Seniors for the Warriors would be called on to start : Rudy Sanford, JT Klinghagen, Yahir Rodriguez, Mack Page, and Dawson Rogers.

With rain in the afternoon forecast the weather cooperated enough not to get wet. The wind, on the other hand, was brutal. Any kick that put the ball in the air wasn’t going where it was intended.

The Warriors would get two goals from Junior Cole Venable, and two goals from Senior Rudy Sanford.

Worland got the win over 4A Sheridan Broncs 4-1 and get the home opener.

The Warriors will next be in Riverton on Saturday March 27th at 5pm.
