WCSD #1 Board Recognizes All State Speech & Debate and FBLA Achievements

At Monday’s Washakie County School District #1 Board of Trustees meeting, members from the Worland High School Speech and Debate and Future Business Leaders of America were recognized by the board for their achievements.
Eleven team members from this years Speech and Debate team were named to the All-State list. They were Madeline Martinson, Nathaniel Nelson, Jade Hefenieder, Raeth Tolman, Sullie-Ann Keuntjes, Nick Bower, Dash Lloyd, Jack Fines, Cody Butterfield, Rachel Carver and Tanner Stott.
Zoe Fernandez and Madeline Martinson qualified for and will compete in the World Schools Debate at the National Speech and Debate Tournament in Dallas set for June. Jake Hefenieder and Nathaniel Nelson will compete in Duo Interpretation at Nationals, they had the highest cumulative ranking in the entire event. Rick Dorn was named the 3A Speech and Debate Coach of the year.
The Future Business Leaders of America also had national qualifiers after their state convention. The team of Madeline Martinson, Karter Dunham and Tatum Zimmerman qualified for their work on Emerging Business Issues. Tanner Stott qualified for Economics, Camryn Buckman for Intro to Financial Math, Kynlee McClure for Journalism and Payton McEndree for her work in Economics.
