Worland Speech and Debate to Host Home Tournament this weekend

Worland’s Speech and Debate team — led by Coach Rick Dorn — will host their home event this Friday and Saturday at Worland High School.
Speech and Debate is put in a box by many — Dorn highlighted his most heard misconceptions about the activity.
There are a multitude of events encompassed in the Speech and Debate umbrella. There are four types of debate — Lincoln-Douglas — Policy or CX — Public Forum — and Congressional Debate. The speaking events have even more performance categories. They include — Original oratory — Extemporaneous — Impromptu — and Interpretation categories. Interpretation closely mirrors drama performance — and includes poetry — dramatic speech — humor and others.
Dorn relayed that Speech and Debate helps to prepare students for their next step in education and their potential future careers.
Mr. Dorn is looking for volunteers to help judge the events this Friday and Saturday — if you would like to participate — contact Worland High School at 347-2412
