Worland vs Douglas Football Celebrate A Golden Anniversary

The Worland Warrior vs Douglas Bearcat football series goes back 100 years.

The first time these two schools squared off was October 21st, 1922.

Douglas won the game 19-13 over the Warriors.

It would be nearly 30 years before they would see each other again on the Gridiron.

This time in the 1952  Wyoming High School State Football Championship, Worland would win the Title with a 26-13 win over the Bearcats.

Seven years later they would meet again, not only once, but twice in the 1959 season.

Douglas would win the first game 14-6 in Douglas.

Four weeks later the teams would battle for another Wyoming State Championship.

The Warriors would again prevail and take a 25-0 win and a second Title from the Bearcats.

Worland and Douglas would see each other two more times in the playoffs, but it wouldn’t be for 45 years, until 2004.

Douglas would win that match-up 19-8.

2009 would be the last time these two teams played in a playoff game against each other.

Douglas would beat the warriors 56-14.

Worland and Douglas have played each other every year since 2018.

Douglas won in 2018 42-15.

In 2019 the Warriors would get a win and beat Douglas 19-7.

2020 saw the Bearcats beat Worland 49-7.

Last season the Warriors lost a close one 16-7 at home against the Bearcats.

The Worland vs Douglas Rivalry has been played 22 times in 100 years with the Warriors winning 12 of those games.

This game on Friday will mark the Golden Anniversary of the Football Match-up of Worland against Douglas.

The Non-Conference part of the 2022 Wyoming 3A High School Football Season is over.

It’s time to get to business, but before we do that let’s take a look back at each of these teams’ first three games.

Douglas is (2-1) this season with a first game loss to Jackson 17-9.

The Bearcats would roll off two consecutive wins over Gering, Nebraska 45-24, and Powell 34-14.

The Warriors come into Douglas with the same record (2-1) after wins against Powell 28-7 and Green River 41-18.

Douglas comes into this game with the 7th ranked rushing attack averaging 160 yards per game and a total of 480 yards and 5 touchdowns.

The Bearcat passing game is ranked 3rd in Wyoming 3A Football averaging 204.7 yards per game and totaling 614 with 6 touchdowns through the air.

As a total Offense, Douglas is ranked 3rd overall with a per-game average of 364.7 yards and a total of 1094 yards 11 touchdowns, and 7 turnovers.

Rushing the Warriors are ranked 10th in Wyoming 3A Football averaging 96.3 yards per game, 289 total rushing yards, and 3 touchdowns.

Through the air, Worland ranks 4th in Wyoming 3A Football with 195.7 average yards per game, 587 total passing yards with 7 touchdowns.

Worland’s Offense overall is ranked 8th in State 3A Football averaging 292 yards per game, 876 total yards 10 touchdowns, and 3 turnovers.

The Bearcat Defense is ranked 3rd in rushing giving up an average of 109.5 yards per game, 219 total, and 1 touchdown.

The passing Defense for Douglas is ranked 6th overall allowing 128.5 yards per game, 257 total passing yards, and 3 touchdowns with 3 interceptions.

Overall Douglas Defense is ranked 3rd in Wyoming 3A Football behind Lander and Number 1 ranked Cody.

Defensively the Bearcats give up a combined 238 yards per game, 476 total yards, and 4 touchdowns.

Douglas is -4 in turnovers.

The Warrior Defense is ranked 8th against the run in Wyoming 3A Football allowing 194.7 yard average per game, 584 total rushing yards, and 9 touchdowns.

Worlands’ Passing Defense gives up 150.3 yards per game, 451 total passing yards, and 5 touchdowns ranking them 10th overall against the pass.

The Warriors have 5 interceptions on the season ranking them 3rd in that category.

Overall Worland’s Defense is Ranked 11th in Wyoming 3A Football allowing 345 yards per game combined, 1035 total yards, and 14 touchdowns.

Douglas Running Back number 12 Jackson Hughes is 7th in Wyoming 3A on the ground averaging 67 yards per game and a total of 201 yards on 23 attempts and 2 touchdowns.

Jackson also averages 57.3 yards per game in receiving with 9 catches 172 receiving yards and a touchdown ranking him 10th as a pass catcher.

Through the air, Douglas relay on Quarterback number 10 Trey Rinn who averages 174.7 yards per game, 524 total passing yards, is 30 for 55 in attempts for a 54.5% completion rate, 6 touchdowns with 2 interceptions, and a 163.3 efficiency rating.

The top Bearcat Receiver is number 17, Brock Pyle, with 17 catches for 264 yards, averaging 82 yards per game with 3 touchdowns.

For the Warriors led by Quarterback Kade Weber who has 165 yards on the ground and 3 touchdowns, passing Kade is ranked 3rd in Wyoming 3A Football with 569 yards through the air 40 for 61 in attempts for a 65.6% completion rate, Kade has 7 passing touchdowns and doesn’t have an interception, his passer efficiency is 181.8.

Worlands Brock Douzenis has 17 receptions for 264 yards and 4 touchdowns and is the 3rd ranked Wide Receiver in Wyoming 3A Football.

Warrior Court Gonsalez has 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown and is the 6th ranked Wide Receiver in Wyoming 3A.

The top-ranked Defensive player in the game is Worlands Senior Linebacker Rugar Mascaro totaling 27 tackles 1 of those for a loss and a blocked kick ranking him 7th overall in Wyoming 3A Football.

Right behind Rugar is Sophomore Linebacker Roman Para with 26 total tackles and a pass block. Para is the 20th-ranked defender in Wyoming 3A Football.

Both Mascaro and Para average nearly 9 tackles per game.

Douglas’s leading defender is number 20 Luke Skeen who has 25 tackles averaging just over 8 tackles per game and a pass block.

The second leading defender for the Bearcats is also their Quarterback, Tray Rinn averages just over 3 tackles per contest with 10 total tackles, Rinn has 2 interceptions for the season.
