When Cody High School students return this month, there will be a new face at the Resource Officer’s desk.
Police Officer Rayna Wortham will transition into the School Resource Officer position, taking over for Justin Dollard, who was promoted to detective this summer.
Officer Wortham has been in the law enforcement profession for the past 21 years in a multitude of positions for both the Park County Sheriff’s Office and the Cody Police Department. She said she is excited to change gears and start working with students to develop positive relationships with law enforcement, provide training in law enforcement subjects, and ensure that students enjoy a safe school environment so that they can focus on education.
Cody Police Chief Chuck Baker spoke of the importance of the position of the school resource officer.
Officer Wortham says she hopes to get to know all the students in the schools so that they feel comfortable in approaching her with any concerns that they may have. She also plans to be available to parents and school staff who have questions regarding the law and students attending the Cody School District.
