General Manager of Wyoming’s Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), Terry Dugas, announced today that a previously closed U.S. House Debate between Harriet Hageman, Anthony Bouchard, Robyn Belinskey, Denton Knapp, and incumbent Liz Cheney will now be open to “credentialed press.”

Mr. Dugas says, “WyomingPBS deeply appreciates Sheridan College’s decision to open the debate to credentialed press.  Questions about the decision should be directed to Sheridan College.”

The Sheridan Press has offered to develop and manage the process for media to request credentials in order to attend the June 30th, 2022 U.S. House debate.

Members of the media will need to submit an application provided by The Sheridan Press. Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be informed if their credentials are approved.

Wyoming PBS said on Facebook this week, “All five candidates running for the office of Wyoming’s U.S. House of Representatives will participate in a debate leading up to the primary election. The debate will be broadcast live at 7pm Thursday, live-streamed on YouTube and at wyomingpbs.org and will be broadcast live on Wyoming Public Media.”

This decision comes as both the public and the press were asking for answers regarding the previously closed and private event. Representative Bouchard blamed the debacle on Cheney while Cheney’s spokesperson Tammy Hooper said their team has not been involved in the process or the decision-making.

The debate starts at 7 p.m. and will also be live-streamed. The Bighorn Basin Gubernatorial Debate takes place on the same day at the same time.
