Wyoming Wild Horse Adoption in Lovell – June 24-26

Written by on June 24, 2021

Ride off into the sunset with an untamed horse or burro – and up to $1,000 – during this weekend’s B.L.M. horse adoption in Lovell.

The Bureau of Land Management has been hosting several wild horse adoptions across Wyoming. The latest will be held over three days at the Pryor Mountain Mustang Center and the Britton Springs Facility near Lovell.

Wild horses available for adoption have been removed from overpopulated herds roaming public rangelands across the western states. The B.L.M. offers up to $1,000 to adopt an untrained animal – an incentive to ensure all the animals go to good homes.

The $1,000 adoption incentive for horses and burros will be offered during this weekend’s Lovell event.

Lovell’s horse adoption will begin at 8:00 a.m. starting on Thursday, June 24. The final adopting day at both the Pryor Mountain and Britton Springs facilities will be Saturday, June 26.

Future 2021 B.L.M. horse adoptions in Wyoming will be held at the Wheatland Corrals on July 2 and during Cheyenne Frontier Days on July 31.

2021 marks the 50th anniversary of the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, passed unanimously by Congress and signed into law on Dec. 15, 1971. To celebrate this anniversary, the B.L.M. is holding a series of events around the country highlighting the value of wild horses and burros as enduring symbols of national heritage.
