Lake facilities at Bighorn Canyon are winterized, but the park is far from closed. Bighorn Canyon offers wonderful year-round boating, fishing, hiking, and educational opportunities.
The courtesy docks at Barry’s Landing, and Ok-A-Beh will remain in the water in the water until the lake starts to freeze. Ice is starting to form at Horseshoe Bend. The courtesy docks have been removed. The ice at Horseshoe Bend is not thick enough for ice fishing.
The water and electric at the Horseshoe Bend and Afterbay Campground has been shut off. The dump and fill stations at Horseshoe Bend and near the Afterbay Campground have been winterized. The campground at Black Canyon, Dayboard 9, and Medicine Creek remain open weather permitting with no facilities.
For current lake conditions or help planning a visit, visitors may call the Cal S. Taggart Bighorn Canyon Visitor Center at 307-548-5406.
