Sundance Athlete to Compete in Freedom 250 Patriot Games

A National Competition celebrating the next generation of leaders, competitors, and champions will take place in Geneva, OH, August 9-11. One male and one female have been selected from each state and U.S territory, and Wyoming has chosen Sundance sophomore Luke Halverson to represent the Cowboy State.Halverson has competed at the varsity level in Football, Wrestling, and Track among various other school activities. He’s already racked up an impressive list of accomplishments, including finishing with a 3rd place finish in the 2026 Wyoming 2A State Wrestling Tournament. Wings and Wheels Returns to Powell for 30th Year

30 years ago, Mike Martin organized a car show and fly-in for a group of friends.  Year over year, that event has slowly grown into one of the highlights of the summer and lures thousands of visitors to Powell. This year’s Wings and Wheels, occurring August 14-15 at the Powell Municipal Airport, promises to be a well attended event, with last year’s event drawing a crowd of around 4,000 attendees.  For an entry fee of $10, attendees will be able to enjoy a day of drag racing, fly-ins, and aerobatics. Steward Seeks Reelection to Board of Commissioners

Scott Steward is one of two incumbent candidates in the crowded race for just three open seats on the Park County Board of Commissioners. After first being elected to the board in 2022, Steward is now seeking reelection in a field of nine Republican candidates.  Prior to his time on the commissioners board, he spent more than 30 years with the Park County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO). Cody Cubs Senior Gaige Machen Has Committed To Bismarck State For Baseball

Cody Cubs Senior Pitcher Gaige Machen has committed to Bismarck State for Baseball. The Mystics finished their 1st year at the NAIA level as a four-year college and are in the Frontier Conference with the likes of Dickinson State for baseball, as well as Carroll College and Rocky Mountain in other sports. Bismarck State has had a baseball program since 1958, nearly 70 years. Bismarck State finished the 2026 season 21-27 overall and 7-17 in conference. With the summer tourist season in full swing, the importance of following best practices while recreating in Park County is critical.
