Cody, Wyo. (March 24, 2025) – Cody Regional Health’s Rehabilitation Services is proud to celebrate two meaningful milestones in support of individuals living with Parkinson’s disease in the Big Horn Basin—one year of Rock Steady Boxing (RSB) and two years of its Parkinson’s Support Group.
Since launching these programs, Cody Regional Health has expanded access to specialized care, offering both evidence-based exercise and a strong sense of community for patients and their families. Over the past year alone, the Rock Steady Boxing program has hosted more than 100 classes and welcomed over 10 individuals impacted by Parkinson’s disease.
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement, balance, and coordination. For many individuals living in rural communities, access to specialized programs designed to improve mobility and build community support can be limited.
That’s why Cody Regional Health launched Rock Steady Boxing and the Parkinson’s Support Group—to ensure people in northwest Wyoming have access to evidence-based exercise and peer support close to home.
“Programs like Rock Steady Boxing give individuals living with Parkinson’s the opportunity to stay active, build strength, and connect with others who understand their journey,” said Heidi Mayton, Rehabilitation Services Director at Cody Regional Health. “At the same time, our support group has created a space for encouragement, education, and meaningful connection over the past two years. We’re incredibly proud of both programs and the community that has grown around them.”
Rock Steady Boxing is a nationally recognized, non-contact boxing-based fitness program specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. Research shows that targeted exercise programs like this can help improve balance, mobility, strength, and overall quality of life.
Equally important is the Parkinson’s Support Group, which provides a welcoming environment where patients and caregivers can share experiences, learn from one another, and find encouragement in a supportive community.
For many participants, the program represents more than just exercise—it’s a place where friendships form, challenges are shared, and hope grows.
Cody Regional Health’s RSB program is currently the only program of its kind serving the region, making it a vital resource for individuals and families across the Big Horn Basin.
Another important aspect of the program is its affordability. Compared to similar programs across the country, the classes offered through Cody Regional Health are intentionally priced to remain accessible so that more individuals can participate and benefit.
“Our goal has always been to remove barriers to care,” said Jeannie Delquadro, CRH Physical Therapist. “We want people living with Parkinson’s to know they are not alone and that support, movement, and community are available right here.”
Cody Regional Health looks forward to continuing to grow the program and supporting individuals living with Parkinson’s disease for years to come.
