Shell, a town of just 42 residents, could see its population increase 10-fold this weekend.
The annual Fall Festival, hosted by the Old Shell Store owners Kevin and Emily Clark, has consistently drawn between four to five hundred visitors. This year’s event, occurring Saturday, October 10 from 3-7 p.m., will offer a range of activities, including hay rides, live music, and axe throwing.
The Clarks began the Fall Festival in 2020, in an attempt to fill the dearth of community gatherings caused by the Pandemic. It was an immediate success.
“It’s funny, the pandemic feels like it was just yesterday, but it also feels like it was a lifetime ago,” Kevin Clark said. “But if you remember, people were so excited to get outside and participate in community events again, after we lost so much of that. We had a fantastic turnout that first year, and we’ve continued it ever since.”
