Wednesday morning, agents from the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI) attempted to serve an arrest warrant on a male subject who fled in a vehicle. At around 10:30 a.m., the DCI Agents requested assistance from the Cody Police Department and the Park County Sheriff’s Office.
A Cody Police Officer located the vehicle at the 2600 Block of Ave E, upon approach, and the male suspect emerged from the vehicle and brandished a handgun. After the suspect retreated inside the vehicle. Officers from CPD, PCSD, Wyoming Highway Patrol, and DCI secured the area and began negotiations.
During the negotations the suspect emerged from the vehicle, and law enforcement fired non-lethal shots in his direction; at no point were live bullets fired during the standoff. During the standoff, the suspect’s mother showed up at the scene and talked with the officers.
After a standoff that lasted more than 4 hours, at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday, the suspect peacefully surrendered.
