Yellowstone Park continues to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors each month from all over the world.
Park officials last week released their visitation report for the month of June, which notes that almost 782 thousand people came through the gates to the world’s first National Park. That’s the third highest number on record for the month of June, a 3.6 percent decrease from a year ago.
Park staff has expressed concern regarding the impact that over four million people per year have on the park’s infrastructure and natural resources.
So far in 2019, the park has hosted over 1.3 million visits, which is a number 4.6 percent higher than five years ago in 2015.
The continued high level of visitation in the park underscores the importance of planning a Yellowstone adventure ahead of time. Visitors should anticipate delays or limited parking at popular destinations, and check road conditions on the park’s website before they arrive.
