More snow fell yesterday in western Wyoming, where up to 4 feet of snow has already fallen in the previous three days, raising fears of large avalanches.

Winter storm warnings remained in effect throughout the day Wednesday for the Jackson Hole region and surrounding mountain ranges. The National Weather Service reported that since Saturday night mountain areas in Teton County had received up to 58 inches of snow. The town of Jackson received 10.3 inches.

Elsewhere, parts of Yellowstone National Park recorded 35 inches, parts of Park County up to 30 inches and areas of Sublette County more than 17 inches.

An avalanche warning was posted for many backcountry areas, including Yellowstone.
