Beartooth Highway Open

Written by on June 4, 2018

The Beartooth Highway is currently OPEN for the season.
The Montana Department of Transportation declared the scenic road passable on Friday. However, because of the high elevation on this mountain pass, officials say travelers should check current weather and road conditions. While crews make every effort to keep the road plowed and open, they say unpredictable weather conditions may cause temporary closures throughout the summer.
MDT is responsible for the highway to the Montana/Wyoming border, where the National Park Service takes over maintenance responsibilities through Wyoming, back into Montana and into Yellowstone Park. Montana’s Department of Transportation and the Park Service coordinate closely to keep the road open throughout the summer.
Drivers are urged to check the road condition report for the most updated pass conditions before traveling.
