BHRN Raises Over $100K for St. Jude Kids

Written by on April 8, 2019

Over $100,000 was raised last week by listeners in northern Wyoming during the Big Horn Radio Network’s Country Cares for St. Jude Kids radiothon.

At the end of the two-day event on Friday evening, $101,120 was pledged to help children and families at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. According to officials at St. Jude, approximately 75 percent of their budgeted costs are covered by public contributions. That money is used to provide breakthrough research and treatment of childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

But the funds are also used to help the families who come to St. Jude for treatment, without any expectation to pay. $30 provides a meal for a family, and $100 could go towards a pair of pediatric crutches; while $250 covers one red blood cell transfusion.

The Big Horn Radio Network and its parent company, Legend Communications, has raised well over a million dollars in the last eleven years to support the families and the researchers at St. Jude.
