Bighorn County Courthouse Closed Temporarily

Written by on August 12, 2019

The Big Horn County Courthouse is closed until further notice.

Officials there closed the courthouse in Basin on Thursday afternoon. According to their website, some concerns were raised during a routine meeting for the courthouse remodel. The concerns may or may not present an issue for the courthouse, but as a precaution, the decision was made to close the building until proper inspections can take place.

The Big Horn County Attorney’s Office will remain open at its Lovell office, with the same phone number.

Park County Treasurer Barb Poley says that they will have staff available today at the Powell Annex of the Park County Courthouse to help Big Horn County residents with license plate renewals and registrations, which can be done at any county courthouse throughout the state. They will also have staff in Powell on the 19th and 20th.

The County’s website pointed out that their first and foremost responsibility is for the safety of their citizens and employees.
