Blood Drive Next Week
Written by Andrew-Rossi on May 11, 2018
The harsh flu season has made an impact on the amount of blood that United Blood Services has been able to gather to assist those in need of transfusions and other emergencies.
The organization will be holding a three-day blood drive next Monday through Wednesday to help address the need. Joshua Randall with United Blood Services says the flu season, and other factors, have made it difficult for hospitals and other medical facilities to keep an adequate blood supply on hand.
The Cody blood drive will be held at the VFW Hall in Cody on Monday from 10:30 to 5, Tuesday from 9 to 3:30, and Wednesday from 11 to 5:30.
The Wednesday date will be special, Randall says, because it will be a day to celebrate what he calls local heroes.
Randall says he’ll be firing up the grill all three days from 11-1, cooking hamburgers and hot dogs that have been provided by Albertsons – and on top of that, they will be giving away a KOA gift card worth $200 on Wednesday.
Anyone who is interested and able to donate blood is encouraged to log on to unitedbloodservices.org and make an appointment, or drop in anytime during their open hours next week at the VFW.
