Breaking News: Mountain West to Play 8-Game Football Season

Written by on September 24, 2020

The 2020 FBS this season is like that party that everyone shows up fashionably late to, and the Mountain West Conference is the most recent arrival.

The 12-team conference has voted to play this year starting Oct. 24. It will be a shortened season, just 8 games, with the conference championship scheduled for Dec. 19.

The season being completed or not will be dependent on health authorities determining whether it’s safe enough with COVID-19 precautions and safety being the top priority

With 4 schools — San Jose State, Fresno State, San Diego State, and New Mexico — still only allowed to have a maximum of 10 players practicing at a time it will be interesting to see the level of play.

Logistics with testing and other health regulations are still being decided but at the moment it seems that three tests administered a week is likely.

Money obviously is the root of a lot of these decisions with a new media deal, but above that it will be great to see these players and especially the Wyoming Cowboys be on the field.
