Breaking: Snow Cancels Governor’s Trip To Cody

Mother nature had other plans for the Governor of Wyoming and his itinerary today as a winter storm has blanketed Park County with inches of snow and more expected throughout the day into Sunday morning.
Governor Mark Gordon was supposed to visit four towns in the northwest part of the state today, all with the same purpose: to thank and welcome home veterans.
The Governor was to travel to Cody and Powell on Saturday, but the weather has forced the trip to be postponed. The trip was for “Wyoming Veterans Welcome Home Day” , which was codified in state law during the 61st legislative session for March 30 of each year, the date U.S. combat troops would have set foot on Wyoming soil after returning home from the Vietnam War in 1973. The trip gives the Governor an opportunity to personally thank veterans from all eras for their service, along with their spouses and families.
“As commander in chief of the Wyoming Military, he believes this is an important part of his duty. It is a reflection of the state’s commitment to our veterans, as Wyomingites are generally very supportive of our veterans”, according to Michael Pearlman, spokesman for Governor Gordon.
