The Buffalo Bill Center of the West‘s Executive Director and CEO Peter Seibert announced his resignation from the museum Wednesday morning.

A statement released by the museum says Seibert is pursuing a new opportunity in Philadelphia.

“Director Peter Seibert is embarking on a new adventure in 2021: he has accepted a new position as Director of the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia and will assume the role in mid-February. His last day at the Center is February 12th. ”

Seibert has served as both Executive Director and CEO of the Buffalo Bill Center for the past two and a half years. Staff members were notified of his decision in an email sent Wednesday morning.

“Our family is very sad to be leaving Cody and the many friends that we have here,” Seibert said. “Returning to Pennsylvania is important for us at this time for family reasons and we leave behind fond memories of this community.”

The Center will begin a nationwide search for a new Director in 2021.

This is a developing story. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
