Candidate Forum Packs Auditorium

All six Republican candidates for Governor spent yesterday in Park County meeting voters and answering pointed questions about their priorities, views, and vision for the future of Wyoming.
In addition to the meet the candidate event at Washington Park yesterday in Powell, the gubernatorial candidates were met by a capacity crowd at the Coe Auditorium in the Buffalo Bill Center of the West last night. Denise Shirley with the Park County Republican Party says that there were a few people who were turned away, but she hoped that those who weren’t able to attend tuned in to KODI to listen to the candidates so voters can make an informed decision.
Dossie Overfield, who herself is a candidate for a Park County Commissioner’s seat, attended last night’s event. She says being able to see the candidates in person and how they interact was important.
Shirley says that when she booked the Coe Auditorium, which only seats 160 people, she had been assured that there had never been a candidate forum held there that had filled every seat. She said that the fee for the room was under-written by a private donor, which is why the Republican Party chose that location for the Governor’s Forum.
