Cloud to File for Secretary of State

Written by on February 21, 2018

Another local official says she intends to file for the position of Secretary of State – and she’s already got the experience at the state level to make the transition seamless.
State Auditor Cynthia Cloud of Cody says that when she took office in 2010, the guidance she received at the time from the other senior elected officials, Secretary of State Max Maxfield and Treasurer Joe Meyer, was invaluable to her – and because she is now one of the most senior of the elected officials at the state level, that experience will be of great use.

Cloud says that when she was elected, she did not expect to stay in that office past two terms, but always felt that she would move into another elected position.

Cloud says that she feels it’s important not to put a temporary person at the helm of an office such as State Auditor, as the office has already been through the turmoil of Ed Murray’s resignation. She says that her experience as one of the top elected officials in the state would make that transition seamless.

Cloud added that she has accomplished so much in the auditor’s office that it would be easy for someone to step in and complete her work for the year.
The Republican Party Central Committee will be meeting this weekend in Little America to select their nominees, which will then be sent to the Governor for his appointment.
