CodeRED Provides Emergency Notifications

Written by on September 5, 2019

With the Fishhawk Fire raging on the North Fork, the Park County Office of Homeland Security reminds residents to be sure they are enrolled in the CodeRed system.

CodeRed is a reverse 9-1-1 system where residents can be immediately notified of emergency situations in their vicinity. These notifications include natural disasters such as fire, flooding, weather, road, and closures, and includes advisories on what to do in case of such emergencies including shelter in place, and evacuations.

The CodeRED system gives county officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency phone information messages to targeted areas or the entire county at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour.
