Cody Craft Brewing Brings Home Medals From State Brewery Competition
Written by Jessi Entel on September 14, 2023
Cody Craft Brewing competed in Wyoming’s first annual Craft Brewers Cup on Friday, September 8.
Hosted at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne by the Wyoming Craft Brewers Guild, Cody’s hometown brewery represented by bringing home three medals.
The competition had seven beer categories, with the top three in each category being awarded.
Cody Craft Brewing was recognized in three categories, bringing home a bronze medal for Best American Ale, a bronze for Best of Show and gold for Best Juicy or Hazy India Pale Ale.
“We’re really proud for the opportunity to share what we’re making, honored to represent Cody at a state level, and ecstatic to be up there competing with some of our favorite breweries in the state,” shared Cody Craft Brewing founder, Brian Walker.
“Winning these medals was just the icing on the cake,” continued Walker. “To even be named in the same sentence as these other breweries is a bit of a feather in our cap.”
The ranking was determined by a panel of “Beer Judge Certified” judges, industry veterans and brewers in a blind tasting.
When asked about his experience at the first inaugural Wyoming Craft Brewers Cup, Walker said it was amazing to be able to meet with other brewers and brewery team members from around the Cowboy State.
“It was also great to see how our beer stacked up against other, well established, incredible breweries in the state and it let’s us know we’re doing the right stuff up here in Cody,” said Walker. “It was a great couple of days and really nice to come back home with some medals.”
