MILWARD L. SIMPSON STADIUM IN CODY PLAYED HOST TO A RETURN TO ACTION MONDAY NIGHT AS CODY HOSTED CASPER. MAC MOREY AND MYSELF WERE AT THE BALLPARK AND MAC FILES THIS REPORT.
MONDAY NIGHT THE CODY CUBS HOSTED THE CASPER CRUSH IN WHAT WAS MEANT TO BE A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW BUT THE CUBS SHOWED THEY ARE THE CREAM OF THE CROP IN CLASS A, SWEEPING THE CRUSH.
THE CUBS HAD THE BATS ROLLING IN GAME 1 CAPTURING 10 HITS AND 12 RUNS WITH 6 OF THEM COMING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FIRST. THE CODY THEN ADDED FIVE MORE IN THE FIFTH AND WENT ON TO WIN GAME ONE BY A SCORE OF 12-5.
IT WAS A PITCH BY COMMITTEE IN GAME 1 AS HAYDEN BRONNENBERG AND DOMINIC PHIILLIPS COMBINED TO PITCH SIX AND TWO THIRDS INNINGS ALLOWING TWO RUNS ON FOUR HITS AND A WALK.
IN GAME 2 IT WAS LOGAN MCLEOD ON THE MOUND FOR THE CUBS AS HE LOOKED LIKE A VETERAN RATHER THAN A YOUNGSTER. HE PITCHED A FIVE INNING, FIVE HIT SHUTOUT.
THE BATS STAYED SCORCHING AS THEY WOULD HAVE ANOTHER 10 HIT GAME AND A 7 RUN 2ND INNING TO FURTHER ENSURE THE 8 TO NOTHING WIN FOR THE CUBS AS THEY SWEPT THE CRUSH.
WITH THE WINS CODY IMPROVES TO 20-13 ON THE SEASON AND HAVE WON 11 OF THEIR LAST 12 GAMES.
UP NEXT: THEY WILL TRAVEL TO BILLINGS, MONT. TUESDAY FOR A DOUBLE HEADER AGAINST THE HALOS.
